There are some colleagues discussing about a performance boost using garbage collection together with NAV 2009 R2.

This can bring up a better performance in concurrent user scenarios like “postings” ..

There are not more details available like

- what is the garbage collector http://msdn.microsoft.com/de-de/library/ee787088.aspx and

- how to use it with NAV 2009:

1. Edit the file  Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Server.exe.config in the NAV Server directory and add

   <runtime>
      <gcServer enabled="true"/>
   </runtime>
</configuration>

2. Restart the service!
